Dear Parents,

Seasons greetings to you all!

The First Term has been completed successfully. We have had many events to celebrate. The highlights of the term were the Sports Day, Art Exhibition, Science Fair and the Talent Show. We had many renowned Universities and other organisations visiting our main campus this year. One of the prominent visits was of the Grameenphone Limited where the CEO, CCO of GP along with their able team arranged a seminar for the students on “Safe use of the Internet”. Sir John Wilson School has always given priority to students’ welfare and we believe that this awareness seminar has created a positive impact on our students in terms of being safe in using the internet.

Sir John Wilson School also believes in empowering students as they are the leaders of tomorrow. This term we have seen students coming up with innovative projects and proposals and as a result we held Futsal Tournament for the first time in school. We hope to see more such innovative ideas emerge from our student body in the near future. The Department of Business arranged a Business Week for the students of classes 9-12 where they made business presentations and did a role play as part of the programme. Students of the senior section have signed up for the Rotary Interact club and Young Zonta club and the initial meetings have been already held for the same. We were very proud of the initiative taken by a bunch of A level students to bring out the Newsletter this term. Our A level students are also rendering help in junior section classes during their free periods.

We were extremely happy to be a part of the Edexcel High Achievers’ Award held in the last week of November. A total of 9 students (7 O level and 2 A level) of our school had been recognised for their academic excellence by Pearson Edexcel Exam Board, UK, at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC), Dhaka.

Sir John Wilson School strongly believes in community service and giving back to the society. Our students were greatly moved by the Rohingya Crisis and came forward with many plans to help them. They have collected a good amount of money to donate to a stable organisation that is helping the Rohingya refugees. The winter clothes donated by the students and Parents have been handed over to the families of the students of Bright Stars School, a school located in Badda for the unprivileged children. All our regular events to raise funds for unprivileged community are ongoing as well.

This year we have started using the big field and the students are extremely happy to avail of that facility. We have established the Indoor Basket ball Court in the Multipurpose Hall as well. Students have been to field trips including Dhaka Literature fest. , Liberation war Museum, National Museum, Bhawal National Park and overnight trips to Manikganj and Sylhet.

Other regular events were held successfully and significant National Days have been observed with due respect.

The year has not been without some set backs. The sudden road construction on Beraid Road has created a lot of traffic problems and school has tried to do the best to manage it as smoothly as possible. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our parents for cooperating with us.

I hope you have a wonderful and safe time with your family and friends during this break.

On behalf of all the staff of Sir John Wilson School, I wish you Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year.
