SIR JOHN WILSON SCHOOL – CELEBRATING A JOURNEY OF 20 YEARS

This year 2015 marks a milestone for Sir John Wilson School as it completes its journey of 20 years.

To celebrate its 20th anniversary, the school hosted a gala event at the Gulshan Club. The evening commenced with a welcome speech by the Principal, Brig Gen Mirza T.H Beg (Retd). Founding Secretary of Social Services and Management Trust (SSMT), Mr. Monsur Ahmed Choudhury shared his experience and appreciated the exemplary dedication of Late Mr. Abu Subhan, Mrs. Nasreen Subhan and the Vice Principal Ms. Sabrina Shaheed. Trustee IMPACT, Mr. Enam Ahmed Choudhury also spoke and greatly praised the school for imparting quality education. Ms. Sabrina Shaheed – a pioneer of Sir John Wilson School – shared a brief reminiscence of her 20 years journey while calling the school her second home. The event was attended by Trustees of SSMT, members of Advisory Council, members of IMPACT Foundation, members of Pubali Bank Ltd., Teachers and Staff of the school and people who were/are associated with the school.

The audience was taken down the memory lane and shown glimpses of the glorious past through a PowerPoint presentation. To celebrate the occasion a cake was cut by the Board members, Principal and others. Some very talented teachers and staff enthralled the audience with a colourful cultural programme which included songs, dances, fashion show, poetry recitation and many more. Mr. Enam Ahmed Choudhury surprised the audience by reciting a poem, while an astounding violin recital enchanted everyone present. The Staff who have been working with the school for the past 10, 15 or 20 years were presented with crests to acknowledge their devotion and dedication for the school. A raffle draw with attractive prizes and dinner followed to conclude the big affair.

The sponsors for the raffle draw were Platinum Hotels, Tokyo Express, Absolute Thai, Rice and Noodles, Food Republic, Pothik Restaurant, Lever Brothers, New Vision Developers and First Security Islami Bank.

After two successful decades Sir John Wilson School, which started off with only 9 students in 1995, has expanded and is now a renowned institution with 1300 students. The school proudly upholds its motto - Good, Better, Best – through its quality education, commendable achievements and excellence in service.
