22 June 2021

Dear Parents and Students,

Congratulations on completing Academic Year 2020-21 successfully!!

As we come to the end of this year, it is a good time to reflect on what we have achieved, update you on some important events and look forward to an even more successful 2021-22!

Helen Keller once said...

Alone, we can do so little; together, we can do so much”

This year has been yet another year of learning, experimenting, relearning through trial and errors. Firstly, I would like to thank you all for your continued support for the school. I thank you for working in partnership with us to ensure that your children aspire and achieve. Without us working together we couldn’t have achieved so much. This has been yet another difficult year, but we accomplished so much for our students! Our entire staff and parent community have responded to the needs that have been put in our paths during this tough time.

A big shout out for the School leadership teams and I applaud all their efforts to ensure we have an outstanding school environment, even online. I would also like to thank all the staff –both teaching and support staff –who make this school the terrific school it is and a wonderful place of work and learning. I appreciate the support of the Management, United Group Ltd. for their guidance and encouragement.

As the Principal of the school, I truly believe that SJWS is one of the best places for our children to receive an education and I have been very pleased to be able to witness the dedication of the teachers to meet the needs of all students and remove barriers to learning. The Curriculum has been logically modified and developed as per the need of the students and according to the online platform facility. Our teachers have worked extremely hard and tried to make sure that all students have a clear understanding of the topics introduced. They have been vigilant in making sure that all students pay attention and participate in classes. Their watchful eyes could not escape a student who didn't attend classes on time or forgotten to submit HW or CW.  The Examinations Department did a meticulous job in sending O and A level grades to the Edexcel and Cambridge Boards in the month of May and June.

Even with online sessions ,we still managed to pull off some events virtually like the Book Week, Art competitions, Math Quiz, different National Days, Graduation Programmes to name a few.

Extracurricular activities were done with equal sincerity. Our student led Debating Club is going full swing and we are very proud to say that our Debate Club students are participating in many local and international Debate tournaments. The Senior students did some podcast shows to keep the school spirit alive and helped to connect the teachers and former Wilsoners with our current school students.

There has been a great amount of volunteerism from our student community that has added value to the year. Different clubs of the school like Girl Up Club, Z Club has arranged online charity event and raised funds to help the vulnerable community around us. They raised funds to vaccinate stray animals around the school campus, too. Students of the Junior section participated in our yearly Spellathon competition and raised fund which has been donated to Jaago Foundation for continuing the education of 3 of our sponsored children. All these just goes to prove that our students are growing up with the right moral values, and empathy which is one of the core vision and mission of the school.

My dear parents and students, we hope your summer is safe and restful. As the new academic year approaches, I am excited about our journey to become a school where we all commit to pay regular careful attention to the development of our students' skills to think reflectively, critically, and creatively. We would like to create an environment where students enjoy the process of learning, feel cared for, have sense of total security both physically and mentally, making excellence a habit. Your partnership in this journey is essential to us and I look forward to continuing to work with you and create a school that we can be all proud of.

Stay well.

May the Almighty protect us all.

Warm regards.
