Dengue Prevention Steps taken by SJWS Students

Students of Sir John Wilson School took part in a dengue prevention drive in solidarity with the social movement initiated by Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Mr. Md.Atiqul Islam to keep the city clean and prevent the spread of dengue fever in the last two weeks of August 2021.

This social movement calls for Dhaka dwellers from all walks of life to clean their own homes and surroundings for 10 minutes at 10 am on every Saturday. As always, SJWS community showed their support and actively took part in this beneficial social movement. Students were shown informative videos about the cause and symptoms of dengue fever and the preventives measures that can be adopted for preventing its spread. Discussion was held with students to increase their awareness regarding this issue as the country is battling with dengue outbreak amid the covid-19 crisis. Students were recommended to clean their own dwellings and rooftops along with adjacent premises to help keep the city clean and minimize the breeding of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes within the community.

Wilsoners enthusiastically took part in this movement and recorded their actions and messages to spread awareness and inspire others. Those recorded videos have been uploaded in the school website under Videos. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the students and their kind parents who have recorded their activities and shared with us. The list of the students are attached herewith. We really appreciate their school spirit!!

DNCC Mayor Mr. Md.Atiqul Islam visited the school’s United City campus on August 8, 2021, and was pleased to find the campus clean and devoid of any breeding grounds, that can spread Dengue fever.

We hope that we can combat this disease as a community together.

Kind Regards,

School Administration,

Sir John Wilson School
