Celebrating 50 Years of Independent Bangladesh
Sir John Wilson School has always been determined to instill patriotism in the hearts of the students and the school always celebrates national days with respect and enthusiasm.
The country marked 50 years of glorious independence this year. And as the red and green flag proudly stands high, the students of the senior section participated in a weeklong activity to celebrate this historical milestone of our beloved motherland. Students of each section of classes 5-9 created posters and slideshows which were presented in the class.
Students of classes 5 and 6 researched and presented on important national monuments like- Shaheed Minar, Shadhinata Stambha, Martyred Intellectuals Memorial, Liberation War Museum, Mujibnagar Memorial and Rayer Bazar Bodhyo Bhumi.
Students of classes 7 and 8 focused their research and presentation on important economic and social milestones reached in the last 5 decades like- GDP and per capita income, health and education indicators, foreign reserve and foreign direct investment, export industries, food and agricultural sustainability etc.
Class 9 students created posters on various important historical monuments.
The Teachers of the Department of Bangladesh Studies guided the students to research and present their projects successfully. We hope that these activities have helped our students to learn about the history, struggles, and achievements of independent Bangladesh more in depth and have strengthened their love for their motherland. We strongly believe that our students will contribute significantly to making the country prouder in the future.

An online essay competition was also held on 15 December, the winners of which will be declared in the first week of January.
