Learning to Care for the Environment (Early Section)

During the month of November 2021, students of Early Section of Sir John Wilson School learned about how to keep the surrounding clean in order to protect the environment. The young learners were enlightened with the idea that it is of utmost importance to keep our surrounding clean for a healthy living. The parks, roads, rivers, seas, their homes, even their schools should be kept clean and tidy at all times. They have been taught never to throw away tissue papers, chocolate wrappers, toilet rolls, banana peels, empty bottles and chips packets on the streets; rather, it should be disposed in proper places. They must always use the trash cans for throwing rubbish. If these rubbishes are not properly discarded, it can be very difficult to destroy it, leading to massive pollution. In order to manage these rubbishes, the students were also given ideas on how to reuse plastic materials for alternative purposes. They were asked to share their innovative and creative ideas on how materials like plastic bottles can be reused (such as using them as pots for plants and pen stand). As part of the lesson, the teachers have shown interactive videos on how the children can practice to keep the surrounding clean and what are the negative consequences of polluting the surrounding. The youngsters have not only learned about the importance of cleanliness but also got the motivation to develop healthy habits that will benefit them in future.
