Celebrating Bengali New Year 1429

It is a pleasure for us to share that the students of Sir John Wilson School have celebrated Bengali New Year 1429 at their respective school campuses. After a long time away from physical school due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the students have finally started to return to school. As such, we did not want to miss the opportunity to celebrate one of the biggest festivals of our culture. Our students were very excited to be a part of this celebration of Pohela Boishakh. Students of different classes presented melodious songs and enchanting dance performances. The teachers also arranged an amusing puppet show for the students based on “Back to School” theme. The dramatization of the puppet show was conducted in Bangla to emphasize on the significance of the event. Both the school campuses were colourfully decorated, keeping traditional features in mind. It was an immense pleasure to see the students dressed in colourful, traditional attires and enjoying the day to the fullest. Their enthusiasm added to the beauty of the occasion to a much greater extent.

A hearty thanks to all the teachers and staff who have given utmost effort in arranging the cultural programs and the overall management. Due to the prevailing situation, the program was limited to a smaller scale than usual. But, we hope that in coming years we shall be able to organise Bengali New Year program with more grandeur once we successfully beat this challenging time.

Wishing everyone a very happy Bengali New Year- 1429!
