Our Inspiration - Sir John Wilson
Sir John Wilson was born in January 20, 1919 in England. He died in 23 November, 1999. Though becoming blind at an age of 12, he reeducated himself in the Braille system. He went on to become Founder Director of The Royal Commonwealth Society for Blind and Head of The Global IMPACT Program.


Reason for Establishing Sir John Wilson School
In 1995 Social Services and Management Trust (SSMT) established Sir John Wilson School with two objectives:
- To provide quality English medium education to the future nation
- To help alleviate the sufferings of the disabled and to prevent further avoidable disablement
- The latter is done through the Jibon Tori, a floating hospital of IMPACT, which travels to the interior of riverside, Bangladesh to offer medical services to the poor.

- So far Impact Jibon Tari Floating Hospital has completed its 46th health care project in 26 locations in Dhaka, Barishal, Khulna, Sylhet and Chittagong division.
- In the period of April 1999 to March 2014, Sir John Wilson School (SJWS) of Social Services Management and Trust (SSMT) partially funded Taka 31 Million from its revenue through Jibon Tori as contribution to reduce sufferings of the poorer and disabled population across the country.

Academic
- Started with only 9 students on August 29, 1995 and now having I 144 students
- 100% achievement in 'O' Level/IGCSE Exam
- One of our A' level Students from Ist batch achieved all 4 A grades in A' Level Exam and now studying at BUET
- Bangladesh Studies with 90% A grade passes and obtaining highest mark in the country for last three consecutive years
- Daily Star's High Achiever's Award since 2006 and received total 71 awards till 2012.
- Won First Prize in Bio Chemistry Olympiad in 2012
- Winner of first ever Social Business Contest organized by Dr. Muhammad Yunus
- Won 14 Trophies in inter school sports activities
- CityCell Dhaka City Girls' Soccer Champions, 2009
- Participation in DHAMUN (Dhaka Model UN) - achieved best delegate award
- Implementation of Duke of Edinburgh Award Program
Proposed Campus of Sir John Wilson School
The school plans to shift to the new campus in June 2015 and is offering an International Standard purpose built school on its 6 bigha land in United City of, Shatarkul with the following facilities:
1.Junior Block 2. Senior Block 3. Auditorium Block 4. Admin Block
Some Facts about the Ongoing Construction of Sir John Wilson School Campus
Completed:
• Piling work of the whole project
• Basements of Junior & Senior Block (Total area : 24000 sq. ft.)
• Swimming pool foundation
• Ground floor of Junior Block slab casting 50%
Ongoing Work:
Ground floor roof casting of Senior Block structure
Plan till December 2014:
To complete all Structural Work /Slab Casting of Junior and Senior Blocks

The Needs for Raising Fund
- SJWS is a project of SSMT and is run as a non-profit organization. It helps an NGO to manage a project (jibon Tori) which is making a difference to the lives of the poorest of the poor in Bangladesh.
- This school project is an investment for the future of Bangladesh. It is educating the leaders of tomorrow.
- This school project enhances the English capabilities of the nation in a world where English is the overriding business requirement.
Our Request for Your Contribution
The school has already taken a loan from the Bank, but requires additional amount of money to complete the project on time. So we are looking for the generous support from organizations and Individuals like you. Your kind cooperation will help us in meeting the deadline and providing better facilities for the children.
It may be mentioned here that the Board Members of SSMT which runs the school, work on a voluntary basis. None of the Trustees take any monetary (or otherwise) benefit from the school revenues. The whole school revenue goes either for charitable purposes or to the development of the school- now the new campus.
