Dear Class 5 Parents,

Please be informed that Footsteps, a development organization, will run a campaign for recognising World Environment Day on 5th June 2021. Footsteps, in collaboration with Surf Excel, involves the plantation of small trees and plants, by school students of class 5. One of our former students, Ankita Shohel, is in charge of this campaign.

Our students will have an environmental education opportunity in their own residence by planting. Through this activity, participants will learn about the benefits of trees and nature. This will also have a positive impact on mental health and well-being and encourage outdoor activity to an extent.

Activity Plan:

  1. Footsteps will provide a DIY Plant package containing (plant, pot, soil, compost, module/ brochure of planting tree, round shove, white t-shirt, and guideline on how to save your planet) at SJWS Gulshan campus.
  2. Students will plant trees in their residence by following the plan module designed by Footsteps
  3. Students will document (video) their tree planting activities which will involve getting dirt on their clothes in the process, hence entertaining the idea of DIRT FOR GOOD
  4. Students/Parents will post their activity in the social media platform using #DirtForGood mentioning Surf Excel and Footsteps
  5. Parents/Children will upload the video to school’s Google Drive Link which will be provided to the participants.
