Dear Parents of class 6-12, 

Hope this notice finds you well. Please be informed that the school’s official debate club, Wilsoners Debating Association, is inviting interested students from classes 6-12 to join for the upcoming new academic year. Students' names and their class and section along with their Gmail address have to be emailed to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. by Sunday, 20 June 2021. Once the students express their interest in joining the club, there will be three phases:

Phase 1: Information form - All the interested students will be sent an invite to a Google Classroom where they will be sent a Google Form to fill up. The students will be given 4 days to fill up the entire form and submit. Failure to submit after the time has expired will lead to an automatic disqualification from the next phases of the tryout.

Phase 2: Written tryout - After the students have filled out the forms, the students will be given a debate motion/topic. They will have 1 day to prepare and write down arguments and points for the motion they will be assigned. 

Phase 3: Oral tryout - After the completion of two phases, the final phase will be an oral tryout in which the students will be assigned another debate motion/topic. They will now be given 30 minutes to prepare points and then speak for 5 minutes based on those points.

Please note that all these phases will happen on individual dates and specific time slots will be allotted to individual students for the oral tryouts. The main objective behind the tryout process is to suit anyone interested to understand debating. Prior knowledge of debates or public speaking will never be counted as an extra weightage factor. Some of the most successful debaters in our club were the ones who were nervous about speaking up in the first place!
