Dear Parents,

Welcome to the 2018-2019 academic year at Sir John Wilson School. I hope each of you had a terrific summer. I am looking forward to the new academic year, working with you and your children. I know that this year will be a great one, filled with a wide variety of learning experiences for the students. As the Principal I stress on academic areas as well as non-academic areas to prepare our students as global citizens. These are very important years for the students and we will do our best to encourage good study habits. I feel these are necessary skills for success in school and later on in life.

In order to foster leadership quality in students and enhance their creativity, we would like to encourage students to come up with new ideas and make plans to execute them properly. I hope to see several new projects throughout the year. Last year our students raised money through different fund raising activities. With some of that money, we have taken the responsibility of an underprivileged child for her yearlong accommodation, food and education. This will help our students to feel connected and responsible for another life. This will also make them more focused and work towards a common goal.

We have set high standards for our classrooms. Being prepared for class on a daily basis is a requirement for all students. Please send your child to school every day.   Establishing a suitable time and a quiet well-lit place for home study will enable your child to “get into a routine” of studying each day. I would strongly recommend that the students read (text books or others) for at least twenty minutes every night.

School bags should be kept simple and should carry required class work copies and books according to the routine only. Homework copies must be submitted on time. Please discourage your child from carrying extra things in their bags.

Encourage Students to take part in extracurricular activities and to stay active in PE classes in order to develop more immunity and strong minds.

Running a school is not such an easy job as we deal with students of varied age group and each one of them has their own individual strengths and pace of development. However, to ensure smooth running of the administration of the school, we need structured rules and regulations which must be respected by all stakeholders. Please be assured that school will take decisions keeping the students’ overall benefit in mind.

As you are an integral part of your child’s education, I feel home-school communication is of vital importance. I welcome your constructive feedback for our future development. I encourage you to become involved in our school in a variety of ways. We have thought of ways where you can contribute to the growth of the school and shall welcome your participation. Please see the list and let us know how you might be available to help.

Thank you in advance for your support. By working together we can make this a wonderful year for all of us. You are indeed a very important part of our SJWS team.

Possible areas of involvement
