In the senior building there is a dedicated computer lab where students from Classes 5 – 8 have a double lesson each week. In classes 9 and 10, students who opt for Computer studies will have 5 lessons each week. In addition, they may be able to use the facilities in their study periods, with permission of the staff.
Through classes 5 – 7 there is a curriculum that builds students skills in all the standard computing software. In addition, there will computer use in other subjects. For example, students may choose to produce their project work as a power point display or a short video sequence.
In the GCSE curriculum the students are required to prepare course work which involves a real problem which can be solved by their ingenuity with software. For example, our library software is based on a project developed by a student in our first cohort of GCE students.
